BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University soccer team will play host to the UNC Greensboro Spartans in a key Southern Conference contest Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
Samford and UNC Greensboro have met 19 previous times, with Samford owning a 12-5-2 series lead. Last season, the teams met in Greensboro, N.C., with Samford earning a 3-0 victory. The last time the teams played at Shauna Yelton Field was in the 2022 SoCon Tournament championship game. After the teams played to a scoreless tie, Samford won the championship on penalty kicks.
Samford enters this game with a record of 8-6-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the SoCon. The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-2 draw at ETSU last Sunday.
For Samford so far this season,
Layton Glisson leads the team with five goals to go along with three assists for 13 points.
Whitaker Buchanan also has 13 points (three goals, seven assists).

Fleming Dean and
Ella Simpson have four goals each, while
Brooklyn Miller has added three goals so far this season. In goal for Samford,
Peyton Hull has played 1100:40, posting a 1.72 goals against average.
UNC Greensboro enters the game with a mark of 4-7-5 overall and 3-2-3 in Southern Conference play. The Spartans are coming off a 2-0 loss to Western Carolina last Sunday.
Ava Kiss, Merle Greulich, Morgan Brubaker and Taylor Mentzer have three goals each for the Spartans. Emma Malone has been the main goalkeeper for UNCG, playing 1393:48 and posting a 1.10 goals against average.
