SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's
Kaleigh Meritt was named the Southern Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week and
Lexi Thatcher earned Setter of the Week honors when the league released its weekly volleyball awards on Monday.
Meritt and Thatcher helped lead Samford to a pair of Southern Conference sweeps over the weekend. The Bulldogs swept Western Carolina Friday night and ETSU Saturday evening.
In the win over Western Carolina, Meritt tallied 19 kills and 11 digs. In the victory, she posted an impressive .409 attack percentage. She then had 11 kills and eight digs in Saturday night's victory over ETSU.
Thatcher had 37 assists in the win over Western Carolina. She followed that up with a 32-assist performance against ETSU.
Samford will remain home this week, playing host to Mercer Thursday night and Furman Friday evening in the Pete Hanna Center.
