BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford softball team announced three signings today to their 2025-26 freshman class, the first recruiting cycle for head coach Megan Curry. The Bulldogs bring in Kayden Harrison, Reese Hickey, and Claire McArthur all joining Samford from the state of Georgia.
"We are so excited about this class and what they will bring to the table," said coach Curry. "Not only are they fantastic athletes, but they are also even better people. All three of them bring an exceptional love for the game and we look forward to seeing the competition it brings to the field. Welcome home Reese, Kayden, and Claire!"
Harrison brings defensive versatility as she played multiple positions in the infield as well as behind the plate for Trinity Christian. The Sharpsburg, Georgia native is a career .398 hitter at the high school level, scoring 114 runs and driving in 101 runs in her 342 plate appearances. She broke out during her senior year, as she hit .490 with 17 of her 51 hits going for extra bases.
Hickey is coming off a senior season where she pitched 132 total innings for Mt. Vernon Presbyterian School. The Atlanta native carried a 2.12 earned run average while striking out 166 opposing hitters. She also helped herself offensively as she batted .465 at the plate.
Through three seasons at Houston County High School, McArthur has hit .385 in 195 at-bats. The Warner Robbins, Georgia native has batted over .400 during both her sophomore and junior campaigns. She has scored 61 runs and drove in 53 while playing multiple positions in the infield.
