GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Samford volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 18-25) decision at Furman Friday evening.
 
With the loss, Samford fell to 13-10 overall and 7-6 in Southern Conference play. Furman improved its record to 12-11 overall and 6-6 in league play.
 
For Samford in the loss, Gracie Lynn Butler had 11 kills and six digs. Kate Morgan led the team in digs with 12.
 
Furman was led by Ava Augustson had 15 kills and eight digs. Kennedy Seekford had a match-high 18 digs for the Paladins.
 
In the first set, Samford jumped out to a 7-4 lead. Furman fought back to take a 16-13 advantage.
The Paladins stretched their lead to seven points at 23-16, and Furman took the first set by a score of 25-19.
 
Furman took an early 9-5 lead in the second set. The Paladins built their lead to 19-10. Samford cut the lead to 21-17, but the Bulldogs could get no closer as Furman won the second set, 25-20.
 
In the third set, Samford jumped out to an 8-3 lead. Furman, however, answered with a 10-2 run to take a 13-10 lead. Furman built a seven-point lead at 23-16, and the Paladins won the third set, 25-18 and the match, 3-0.
 
Samford will remain on the road to play at Mercer on Saturday, Nov. 9. The match is set for a 5 p.m. (CT) start from Macon, Ga.
