BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) released its All-District teams Tuesday and Samford was well represented. Head Coach Bucky McMillan was named the District 21 Coach of the Year, while Achor Achor was named first team All-District and Rylan Jones was named to the second team.
 
McMillan, the three-time Southern Conference Coach of the Year, has led Samford to the best season in program history this year. The Bulldogs have set a school record for wins with a 29-5 record, won the Southern Conference regular season championship and the SoCon Tournament title.
 
Achor currently leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures 25 times this season and posted three double-doubles. He was named first team All-SoCon, and he was chosen as the SoCon Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
 
Jones leads the SoCon and ranks 13^th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.2. He also ranks third in the league in assists, averaging 4.9 per game. Jones was named the SoCon's Newcomer of the Year, and he was chosen third team All-SoCon. Jones was also named to the second team All-SoCon Tournament team.
 
As a team, Samford currently ranks fifth in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 86.0 points per game. The Bulldogs also rank in the top 10 in the nation in bench points per game (5th-33.38 pg.), turnovers forced per game (6th-16.62 pg.), effective field goal percentage (6th-57.3%), three-point percentage (7th-39.3%), fast break points per game (7th-15.26 pg.) and winning percentage (8th-85.3%).
 
The Bulldogs will face the Kansas Jayhawks in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday at 8:55 p.m. CT in Salt Lake City, Utah. Thursday night's game can be seen live on TBS.
