Softball Welcomes No. 15 Alabama On Tuesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Looking to build on the momentum of a weekend sweep over UNCG, the Samford softball team is set to host the No. 15 Alabama Crimson Tide on Tuesday at Samford Softball Stadium.

The first pitch between the Tide and the Bulldogs is slated for 5 p.m. CT on Tuesday and can be streamed on ESPN+. Samford's game notes can be found here.

Samford enters the midweek showdown with an overall record of 12-25, but the Bulldogs have won seven of their last eight games.

Alabama comes to Birmingham with a 29-8 record on the year after sweeping a three-game series with Ole Miss on the weekend.

Tuesday will be the 28th meeting between Samford and Alabama on the softball diamond with the Tide leading the all-time series 25-2. The two squads have met once this season already with the Tide run-ruling the Bulldogs 11-2 on March 19 in Tuscaloosa.

Offensively, the Bulldogs are paced at the top of the lineup by the junior duo of McKayla Cothran and Sarah Squillace. Cothran leads Samford in batting average at .350, while Squillace is slashing .308.

The heart of the order features one of the best young hitters in the conference as Katie Campbell leads the team with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs. Grier Bruce ranks second on the squad with three homers and 20 RBIs while Logan Champion has a pair of triples and a .325 batting average to help pace the Bulldogs.

On the national stage, Campbell ranks top 100 nationally in hit-by-pitches (7/71st), hit-by-pitch per game (0.21/99th), home runs (10/53rd), home runs per game (0.28/69th), RBIs (35/69th) and RBIs per game (0.97/87th).

In the circle, Jordyn Partain has been the workhorse of the Bulldog pitching staff tossing 100.2 innings, which ranks third among SoCon pitchers. The junior's 20 games started are the 13th most by any starting pitcher in the country.
