SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Samford softball  team is coming off a 4-0 week, where they swept a Southern Conference series against Chattanooga. Two Bulldogs earned individual accolades as Reese Hickey and Katie Campbell were named SoCon Pitcher and Player of the Week when the conference released their weekly awards this afternoon.

Katie Campbell was stellar offensively this week for the Bulldogs, going 8-for-13 at the plate on her way to the Player of the Week award. She hit four homeruns, including three in game one of the series against Chattanooga. Five of her eight hits went for extra bases, as she drove in 10 and scored seven runs. The junior is second in the SoCon with 12 homeruns on the season.

Reese Hickey earned Pitcher of the Week recognition as she made three appearances this week for the Bulldogs. She earned the win and threw a complete game shutout at Alabama State on Tuesday as Samford earned a 13-0 victory. The freshman threw all six innings, scattering six hits and striking out six Hornet batters. Hickey made two relief appearances against the Mocs, going 1.2 innings in game one of the series and 5.1 innings in game two where she earned her second win of the week. Hickey has been on an impressive run as she hasn't allowed a run in 15 innings.

The Bulldogs are on a six-game winning streak, and are 5-1 in SoCon play. They sit in solo second place, just one game behind UNCG, which has started 6-0. The Dogs are on the road all week, as they face UAB on Tuesday, before a series at Wofford this weekend.
