SAMFORD GAME NOTES (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team will travel to Waco, Texas, to compete in the Baylor Invitational this weekend. The Bulldogs will take on LSU Friday at 5 p.m. and then will play Baylor Sunday at 1 p.m.
Samford enters this weekend with a record of 5-0 following earning wins last weekend over Miami of Ohio (3-2), Evansville (3-1) and Chicago State (3-2).
In the win over Miami of Ohio, Samford was led by
Kaleigh Meritt with 21 kills and eight digs.
Ally Cordes had 13 kills and 10 digs, while
Gracie Lynn Butler tallied 13 kills and eight digs.
Kate Morgan led the team with 12 digs, while
Lexi Thatcher paced the team in assists with 48.
Against Evansville, Samford was led by Butler with 19 kills and 11 digs. Meritt tallied 16 kills and 11 digs, while Cordes had 12 kills and a team-high 14 digs. Thatcher had 48 assists in the win.
In the win over Chicago State, Samford was led in the win by Butler with 22 kills and 12 digs. Meritt had 13 kills and 16 digs. Morgan led the team in digs with 19, while
Lexi Thatcher had 49 assists.
So far this season, Samford has been led by Butler with 75 kills and 46 digs. Meritt has tallied 74 kills and 60 digs. Morgan leads the team in digs with 62, while Thatcher has a team-high 236 assists. Morgan enters the weekend ranking sixth in school history in career digs with 1,404 in her Samford career.
