BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team will host Wofford and ETSU this weekend in The Pete Hanna Center. The Wofford match is scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m. and the ETSU match, which is the teams annual Dig Orange match, is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m.
So far in conference play the Bulldogs are 0-2, coming off opening league play on the road at UNCG and Furman. Bulldogs are 5-8 overall for the season.
Shea Bruntmyer leads the team in assists and is second in the conference with a total of 427 assists.
Kaleigh Meritt leads the Bulldogs with 183 kills so far in the season and
Ally Cordes is to follow with 161. Both Wofford and ETSU are 2-0 in league play, this will be Samford's 32
nd time meeting with Wofford and the 28
th time meeting with ETSU.
Saturday's match against ETSU is the Bulldogs annual Dig Orange match that honors Caroline Neisler, a former student-athlete who passed away in 2013 just weeks after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. The Bulldogs continue to honor the life and legacy of Caroline through Dig Orange. A venmo account has been set up for donations: @keylor-chan that are given to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which funds leading-edge research for every type of blood cancer, including leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other rare types of blood cancers. Both matches are also a part of Youth Weekend for the Bulldogs.
