Tallahassee, Fla. - The Samford women's basketball team defeated the Florida A&M Rattlers 77–57 Saturday afternoon at the Al Lawson Center.
NOTABLES
Sophomore guard
Briana Rivera and freshmen
Kaylee Yarbrough led the Bulldogs with 15 points apiece. This is Rivera's fourth straight game leading the Bulldogs in scoring while this was Yarbrough's career high and fourth game at Samford.
Carla Baguda followed in scoring with ten.
Sierra Godbolt and
Alyssa Tarpley led the team in assists with four each. Godbolt and Baguda both led the team in rebounds with five each.
The Bulldog bench had a total of 35 points.
Q1
Rivera opened scoring for the Bulldogs with a three pointer. Bulldogs would go on a 6-0 scoring run to lead early, 12-4. Yarbrough would knock down a three pointer at the buzzer to make the Bulldogs lead by 15 at the end of the first quarter.
Q2
Bulldogs would be the first to score in the second quarter with a jump shot from
Emily Snoddy.
Jada Knight would score a driving layup with 12 seconds left in the quarter for the Bulldogs to hold a 16-point lead at the half.
Q3
After the half, Frances Morris would knock down a free throw and a step back three to get things started for the Bulldogs making the score 40-25. Godbolt would assist Rivera for a three after an offensive rebound, 43-27. Bulldogs would end the quarter on a 5-0 run with the score being 62-39.
Q4
Yarbrough would go 4 for 4 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Baguda would also notch her 10
th point in the quarter from the free throw line. Tarpley would collect her fourth assist during the Bulldogs last score of the game coming from a driving layup for Morris.
UP NEXT
Bulldogs will head to Tuscaloosa next week to play the University of Alabama on November 19th. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. tip and is scheduled to be broadcasted on ESPN+.
