Lincoln, Neb. - The Samford women's basketball team dropped its first road contest of the season, falling 80–46 to the Nebraska Huskers on Saturday evening at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
NOTABLES
Sophomore guard
Briana Rivera was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 14 points. She was five for eight from behind the three-point line. She previously led the bulldogs in the first home game with 18 points.
Sierra Godbolt led the team in assists with five while scoring seven points coming off the bench.
Aubrey Blankenship was the team's second leading scorer with eight points.
Freshmen's
Kaylee Yarbrough and
Francie Morris notched five and four points in their second college contest.
The top rebounder for the Bulldogs was
Emily Snoddy, who tallied seven boards.
The Bulldog bench had a total of 14 points.
Q1
The Huskers opened the game on a 13-0 run; Bulldogs first got on the board with a three pointer from Rivera. Morris would go on to collect a steal and score on a fast break for the first quarter score to be 21-5.
Q2
Godbolt would start the scoring for the Bulldogs in the second quarter with a field goal in the paint. Rivera would go on to score three threes and a field goal outside the paint in the quarter. A three pointer from Blankenship would pull the Bulldogs within 14 points.
Q3
After the half, Bulldogs were the first to score, with a quick layup from Blankenship. Huskers would go on to score the next nine points deepening their lead, 51-27.
Q4
Yarbrough would score all five of her points in the fourth quarter.
UP NEXT
Bulldogs will head to Gainesville next week to play the University of Florida on November 13th. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. tip from the Exactech Arena at Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
