COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Samford women's basketball put together multiple strong individual efforts but was unable to overcome a balanced Tennessee Tech attack in an 82–60 road loss Thursday morning at the Hooper Eblen Center.
Freshmen Kaylee Yarbrough provided an offensive spark off the bench, leading Samford with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Senior guard Sierra Godbolt added 12 points and 5 rebounds, scoring early and often inside the paint to keep the Bulldogs within reach during the opening stretch.
Sophomore Briana Rivera chipped in 10 points, knocking down two threes and helping Samford open the third quarter. Dual sport athlete Martha Bishop delivered an efficient lift as well, scoring 5 points in just 7 minutes, including a key three-pointer in the first quarter that tied the game at 12–12.
Samford's bench contributed 29 points but despite several scoring bursts, the Bulldogs were challenged on the glass, as Tennessee Tech maintained control of the boards.
The Bulldogs shot 39.6% from the field and continued to generate high percentage looks in the paint, totaling 30 points inside.
Samford (4–7) returns home to prepare for its next non-conference match up against North Alabama on Sunday, December 7th at 3 p.m.
