BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team battled the 18
th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide before falling by a score of 11-7 Tuesday evening at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
With the loss, Samford dropped its record to 22-18 on the season. Alabama improved its mark to 32-10 with the win.
"As I always like to say, if you list the positives and negatives of a game, the list of positives far outweighs the negative," Samford head coach Tony David said. "We swung the bats well. Anytime you're throwing that many pitchers it's going to be hard for all of them to throw well, but most of them did. We had a couple of tough innings where we just lost the strike zone or balls got called."
For Samford in the loss,
Jeffrey Ince went 2-for-5 with a home run and one RBI.
Michael Gupton went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Trey Sanders (1-1) pitched 1.2 innings, giving up three runs and allowing four walks to take the loss on the mound for Samford.
