OXFORD, Miss. - The Samford track and field team gets back on the track this weekend as they head to compete in the Joe Walker Invite, hosted by Ole Miss. The Bulldogs will compete on Friday and Saturday against a strong field as they compete in their second outdoor meet of the season.
Samford opened their outdoor track and field season last weekend at Kennesaw State. The Bulldogs had a handful of first-place finishes, including
Maddie Edwards taking the 400-meter hurdles. She ran the fourth fastest time in program history with a time of 1:00.63. The Dogs also dominated the men's 400m hurdle race asÂ
Landon Wright andÂ
Jackson Olivo went first and second.Â
Grace Lueders had a strong run in the women's 800-meter as she outraced the field for the win.Â
William Murray closed out the track events by winning the men's 3000m steeplechase.Â
As they do in most meets, the Dogs dominated the pole vault events on each side.Â
Antonina Tereshchenko took first place on the women's side whileÂ
Libby Jackson andÂ
Lindsey Havens took third and fourth. On the men's side,Â
Carter Ellis beatÂ
Jed Sisco on tries as they each cleared 5.06m. The Bulldogs finished off the field events in the men's high jump where the duo ofÂ
Jaggerd Moore andÂ
Arthur Chitty continue to impress. Moore edged Chitty by clearing 2.07m as the pair took the top two spots.
