BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's and women's track and field program opened its 2025-26 indoor season today at the CCG Bham Collegiate Ice Breaker at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The Bulldogs took a limited roster to the event to ease into the year. One thing that didn't change over the offseason was the winning form of
Bradley Franklin. After making it to nationals in his freshman campaign, Franklin returned and earned a win in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.71 seconds.
Jackson Olivo took second place, and
Cole Grande took fourth in the men's 400m to round out the small group of Bulldog runners today.
In the field, JT Shaw and
Carl Henry placed fifth in the women's and men's shot put, respectively. The Bulldogs took the top two spots in the women's long jump, led by
Ellison Chadwick who jumped 6.06m for a personal record, followed by Kierra Abrahams who took second place.
Carter Ellis dominated the field in the men's pole vault by clearing 4.85m en route to the win.
Emerson Simpson took second place on the women's side. The Samford jumpers closed out the event as
Dorsey Parker won the women's high jump, while
Arthur Chitty won the men's high jump and
Jaggerd Moore took third.
The Bulldogs return to action in mid-January when they host the Samford Invite and Open at the Birmingham CrossPlex on January 16 & 17.
