MATCH NOTES--SAMFORD VS. FLORIDA STATE (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team will open play in the 2025 NCAA Tournament by taking on the Florida State Seminoles Friday at 10 a.m. (CT) at the Carolina Tennis Center.
Samford enters the NCAA Tournament with a record of 19-5 overall and 6-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs earned the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 4-3 win over Furman in the championship match of the SoCon Tournament on April 19. Senior
J.B. Pickard earned the deciding point with his win at No. 4 singles.
Junior
Sandeep Mohandoss has led the team this season, playing all but one match at the No. 1 singles position. He posted an overall record of 16-7, including a 5-2 mark in Southern Conference matches. Mohandoss was named first-team All-SoCon at the conclusion of the regular season.
Junior
Darcy Nicholls has been Samford's main No. 2 singles player, posting a record of 13-6 overall, all at No. 2, including a record of 5-2 in league action. Nicholls earned second team All-SoCon honors. Additionally, Nicholls and Pickard were named first team All-SoCon in doubles. The duo finished the season with a record of 13-6, all at No. 1 doubles, earning a perfect 7-0 record in SoCon action.
Samford freshman
Hayden Menon was named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, as well as being named to the league's All-Freshman team. He posted a record of 16-6 (2-1 at No. 2 and 14-5 at No. 3) and a mark of 6-1 in SoCon play.
Samford has a record of 0-4 in NCAA Tournament matches. The Bulldogs have played in the NCAA Tournament in 2013, 2011 and 2008. This will mark the second time Samford has played Florida State in the NCAA Tournament, with the Seminoles taking a 4-0 win in 2008.
