LOUISVILLE, Kent. - The Samford softball team had three players earn accolades from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as they released their South Region team this afternoon. Olivia Shaw, Katie Campbell, and Joi Hubbard were named to NFCA teams after the Samford softball season ended last week at the SoCon Tournament after a 33-23 season.

Olivia Shaw was named to the NFCA South Region First Team after a sophomore season where she is top five in nearly every offensive category in the SoCon. She led the league in doubles with 22 which is tied for second and hit 10 homers. The Georgia native hit .381 in the regular season and carried an OPS of 1.150 with 55 RBIs and 49 runs. Shaw was a first-team selection as the designated player after also earning the same honor from the SoCon last week.

Katie Campbell was named to the South Region Second Team designated player after splitting time this season at first base, catcher, and the designated player for the Bulldogs. The Florida native hit .328 with nine home runs while setting a school record with 60 RBIs. The sophomore broke her own RBI record she set last season while carrying an OPS of .932.

Freshman Joi Hubbard was named to the NFCA Third Team in the South Region after being an immediate starter in the outfield for the Dogs. Despite missing ten games with an injury early in the year, Hubbard set a school record with 30 stolen bases on the year. The Georgia native batted .319 with 38 runs scored and 21 RBIs. 

The Samford season ended with a third-place finish at the SoCon Tournament last week. They finished with a 33-23 season under the leadership of first-year head coach Megan Curry.
