Davis and Tiffin Earn SoCon Postseason Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Samford track and field team earned awards from the Southern Conference office this afternoon as Bryce Davis and Rod Tiffin earned specialty awards this afternoon. The accolades come after the Bulldogs won the men's and women's SoCon Outdoor Championship for the fifth straight year earlier this week.

Samford's Bryce Davis, the SoCon championship meet MVP on the men's side, was announced with the Most Outstanding Field Performer honors. Davis collected 22 points over the two-day meet, winning the shot put with a throw of 16.28 meters. The Bulldogs freshman also had bronze finishes in both the hammer and discus which earned the Florida native Co-Freshman of the Year honors on the men's side.

For the fifth straight season, Samford's Rod Tiffin was awarded Men's Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to their fifth Outdoor Track and Field Championship title in a row. On the Women's side, Tiffin earned his second consecutive Coach of the Year honor and fourth in the last five seasons. The Samford women are the first team to win six straight titles in SoCon history.

The SoCon Outdoor Championship took place over two days, beginning on Monday and concluding on Tuesday. The Bulldogs finished 78.5 points ahead of runner-up Western Carolina on the women's side while the men finished with a 42.5-point margin of victory over the Catamounts.
