BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's basketball team has been invited to compete in the 2025 Cancun Challenge. The tournament will take place Thanksgiving week at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.
The 2025 Men's Cancun Challenge is set for Nov. 25–26. This year's six-team field includes Samford, Georgia State, New Mexico State, South Dakota State, UC Irvine, and Utah Valley. All six programs will compete in a set schedule of games in Riviera Maya.
Samford will play three games during the week of the event, opening with a game against New Mexico State in Las Crusas on Nov. 21. The Dogs will then head south of the border to face Georgia State on Nov. 25 and Utah Valley on Nov. 26. The Bulldogs hosted Wolverines last season during their Thanksgiving MTE and came away with an 84-76 victory.
