GAME NOTES: SAMFORD AT BELMONT (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will travel to Nashville, Tenn., to take on the Belmont Bruins Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
Samford and Belmont have met 11 previous times, with Samford holding a 10-1 series lead. The teams last met in 2014, with Samford earning a 2-0 win at Shauna Yelton Field.
Samford enters Thursday night's game with a record of 3-2-1. The Bulldogs earned a 2-0 win over Western Kentucky last Sunday. Samford has won its last three contests, all by shutout.
So far this season,
Sam De Luca leads Samford with three goals and one assist for a total of seven points.
Martha Bishop and
Sarah Holland have a goal and an assist each.
Brooklyn Miller,
Clare Nicholas,
Avery Stevens and
Becca Koenig have one goal apiece so far this season.
Samford goalkeeper
Peyton Hull has posted a goals against average of 1.00 in 540 minutes in goal. Hull was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week after posting a pair of shutouts last week.
Belmont enters Thursday night's game with a mark of 2-1-3. The Bruins are coming off a 0-0 draw at UAB last Sunday afternoon.
So far this season, Belmont has been led by Kaitlyn Elliott with two goals so far this season. Ava Labocki has one goal and one assist. Belmont goalkeepers Greta Genie and Sydney Jones have shared time in goal so far this season.
