Soccer To Host Chattanooga Sunday

GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. CHATTANOOGA (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
 The Samford soccer team will play host to the Chattanooga Mocs Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.

Samford and Chattanooga are meeting for the 22nd time, with Samford holding an 18-1-2 series lead. Last season, Samford earned a 1-0 win at Chattanooga. Over the 21 previous meetings, Samford has outscored Chattanooga by a combined score of 52-15. Samford's lone loss in the series came in a 2-0 setback on the road during the 1999 season.
 
Samford enters Sunday afternoon's game with a record of 3-2-4 overall and 0-0-1 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs opened SoCon play with a 2-2 draw with preseason SoCon favorite Western Carolina.

Samford has been led so far this season by Sam De Luca with four goals and one assist for nine total points. Martha Bishop has netted two goals and has dished out one assist for five points. Sarah Holland and Clare Nicholas have one goal and one assist each.

Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull has posted a goals against average of 0.89 with 33 saves in 810 minutes in goal. Hull has been named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week for each of the last two weeks.
 
Chattanooga comes into the contest with a mark of 7-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in Southern Conference play following a 4-0 win over Wofford Thursday night.

Chattanooga has been led so far this season by Caroline Richvalsky with five goals and four assists for 14 points, while Paige Thomas has six goals and one assist for 13 points. Chattanooga goalkeeper Caroline Ekern has a 1.00 goals against average with 27 saves in 900 minutes of play.
