Bulldogs Look to Build on WCU Win in Road Test at Mercer

BIRMINGHAM, ALA.- The Samford women's basketball team heads back on the road on Saturday, January 17th, for their third Southern Conference match up at Mercer.

Freshmen Kaylee Yarbrough continues to lead the way for Samford, having paced the Bulldogs in scoring in nine straight games. Yarbrough scored a team-high 23 points against Western Carolina and now leads the team with 231 points on the season.

Earlier this year, she recorded a career-best 29-point performance against USC Upstate, highlighting her emergence as one of the conference's top freshmen.

Saturday's contest marks the 38th all-time meeting between Samford and Mercer in women's basketball. Mercer enters the game with an 11-6 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play. The Bears are coming off a 76-59 loss to UNCG and are led offensively by Nahawa Diarra, who is averaging 12.4 points per game.

Mercer is in its second season under head coach Michelle Clark-Heard, as Samford looks to earn a key road win in SoCon play.

Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. as the Bulldogs look to build momentum following a 73–62 road victory over Western Carolina. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and followed via Live Stats.
