CULLOWHEE, N.C.- The Samford women's basketball team continues conference play on the road as it faces Western Carolina in the second game of a two-game Southern Conference opening road stretch on January 10th at the Liston B. Ramsey Regional Activity Center.
The Bulldogs opened league play at UNCG, falling 73-64 despite a strong offensive effort. Kaylee Yarbrough led Samford with 15 points, marking her eighth straight game leading the Bulldogs in scoring. Sierra Godbolt provided a spark off the bench with 13 points, while Briana Rivera added nine points and four rebounds. Emily Snoddy anchored the paint with seven points, five rebounds, and two blocks.
Samford and Western Carolina will meet for the 38th time in program history. The Catamounts finished last season 13-7 overall and 3-11 in SoCon play. This match up marks Western Carolina's second conference game of the season, as the Catamounts enter the contest with a 3-12 overall record and an 0-1 mark in league play following an 84-75 loss to Mercer.
Western Carolina is led by Ally Hollifield, who averages 12.5 points per game. The Catamounts are in their second season under head coach Jonathan Tsipis and will look to gain momentum early in conference action.
For Samford, Rivera and Yarbrough continue to be a consistent offensive presence for the Bulldogs with majority of the teams scoring comes from them. As conference play intensifies, the Bulldogs aim to build off recent performances and secure their first SoCon road victory.
Saturday's tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game can be streamed on ESPN+ and followed via Live Stats.
