CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Samford women's golf team claimed the Oyster Shuck Match Play championship with a 4-1 win over Youngstown State Tuesday at the Charleston Municipal GCS.
The Bulldogs finish the tournament with a 3-0 record, earning wins over Winthrop (3-2) and High Point (3.5-1.5) on Monday before defeating Youngstown State in Tuesday's championship match.
Samford's
Anika Richards defeated Sofia Perez Escarcena, 2 & 1, while
Gabi Nicastro earned a 5 & 3 win over Maddi Shoults.
Grace Engel picked up a 3 & 2 win over Neeranuch Prajunpanich.
Anne Reaves Skinner defeated Isabella Saur, 8 & 7. Youngstown State's Valentina Pena Anaya defeated
Kate Joyner, 7 & 6, to make the final score 4-1.
Next up, Samford will take on UAB in match play on Feb. 16.
