HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Samford women's golf team sits in fifth place after the first day of the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, hosted by Samford on Monday at the RTJ at Hampton Cove-Highlands Course (Par 72, 6,039 yards).
The teams played the entire first round but were unable to finish the second round due to darkness. The teams will finish the second round Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. and then continue on to the third and final round.
Samford shot a 14-over-par 302 in the first round and has three holes left for the second round. North Alabama leads the tournament heading into Tuesday's final day.
Anika Richards shot an even-par 72 in the first round and is tied for fifth out of 60 players entering Tuesday's play.
Gabi Nicastro shot a 73 and is in seventh place.
Grace Engel shot a 78 in the first round, but has climbed to 10
th in the second round so far.
Anne Reaves Skinner and
Kate Joyner both shot 79 in the first round and with just a few holes left in the second round, Joyner sits in 33
rd and Skinner is in 36
th.
Morgan Franklin, playing as an individual and her score not counting towards the team total, shot an 80 in the first round and has moved up to 29
th entering Tuesday's round.
