BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will face No. 3 seed Wofford in the Southern Conference Tournament quarterfinals Thursday, March 5, at approximately 2:30 p.m. CT at the Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville, N.C.
Samford leads the all-time series with Wofford, 27-15, but the Terriers have taken eight of the last 10 meetings. Wofford swept the 2025-26 regular-season series, winning 80-56 in Birmingham on Jan. 22 and 52-44 in Spartanburg on Feb. 21. The Bulldogs enter the postseason as the No. 5 seed after a challenging league slate, finishing 3-2 over their final five regular-season games.
Samford (17-12, 7-7 SoCon) rides a three-point identity into Asheville. Sophomore guard Briana Rivera has authored a historic season, leading all of NCAA Division I in three-pointers made (102), attempts (282), and threes per game (3.29). Freshmen guards Francie Morris and Kaylee Yarbrough have also been scoring powerhouses for the Bulldogs this year, with Morris scoring a career high 26 points at Furman while Yarbrough has scored in double digits 13 times this season and second in scoring for the team.
Wofford (17-12, 10-4 SoCon) earned the No. 3 seed after winning four of its last five games. The Terriers bring a balanced profile, averaging 66.1 points per game, Maddie Heiss leads the way at 11.6 points per game, while Toni Warren adds 8.2 points and a team-best 6.9 rebounds per outing.
Samford's elite three-point attack aims the battile a Wofford defense that muted the Bulldogs in both regular-season meetings. Tip-off time is approximate following the first game which is UNCG vs. ETSU at 12:15 p.m. CT and can be streamed on ESPN+.
