SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford sophomore
Bradley Franklin and head coach
Rod Tiffin both earned awards from the Southern Conference when the league released its postseason specialty awards Wednesday.
Franklin was named the Most Outstanding Male Track Performer, while Tiffin was named both the men's and women's Coach of the Year.
After breaking the men's 60‑meter hurdles record in both the prelims and finals at last year's SoCon Championships, Franklin repeated the feat this season—running 7.45 on day one and lowering it to 7.41 in the final to win his second straight title. His time currently ranks No. 1 in Division I. Franklin also won gold and set a conference record in the 60m dash with a 6.63, placing him among the top 40 nationally.
Tiffin led his men's and women's programs to a sweep of the SoCon Indoor championships for a seventh-straight year. The women's team won its 11
th-straight championship, while the men's team earned its seventh-straight title.
