Bulldogs Have Strong Weekend At Multiple Meets

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford indoor track and field teams posted a strong weekend, hosting the Bulldog Invite and Bulldog Open, while also competing in meets at Clemson and Vanderbilt.
 
At the Clemson meet on Friday, Bradley Franklin posted the fifth-fastest time in the nation and set a new school record in the men's 60-meter hurdles, running the race in 7.56 seconds.
 
At the Bulldog Invite on Friday, Bella Edwards took first place in the women's 5000 meters (18:00.95). Two Bulldogs medaled in the men's 5000 meters, with William Jordan winning the race (14:41.70) and Arthur Langley coming in second (14:55.71). In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Aaliyah Mbenda came in second (8.54), while Gilbert Stein placed second in the men's 60-meter hurdles (8.65).
 
In the men's weight throw, Bryce Davis won the event (17.06 meters), while Raymond Charlton came in second (16.72 meters) and Carl Henry finished third (16.16 meters). In the women's shot put, J.T. Shaw placed second (13.16 meters). Lindsey Havens won the women's pole vault (3.97 meters). Ellison Chadwick took home the championship in the women's long jump (5.85 meters), while in the women's triple jump, Kyndall Brundidge placed second (11.29 meters).
 
In the men's long jump, Jack Stubbs placed first (7.18 meters), while Luke Durham came in third (6.49 meters). Dorsey Parker placed second in the women's high jump (1.66 meters). Samford took each of the top three spots in the men's high jump, with Jaggerd Moore winning the event (2.14 meters), Arthur Chitty taking second (2.11 meters) and Durham coming in third (1.94 meters).
 
Bela Doss placed third in the women's mile (5:04.11), while Lizzy Pardue came in second in the women's 400 meters (55.37). In the men's 400 meters, Cole Grande came in second (47.97), while Samuel Werner placed third (48.36). Kali McQuade won the women's 800 meters (2:18.09). In the men's 200 meters, Grande placed second (21.42).
 
At Saturday's Bulldog Open, Samford took the top two spots in the women's pole vault, with Emerson Simpson winning the event (3.85 meters) and Antonina Tereshchenko taking second place (3.56 meters). In the men's pole vault, Carter Ellis took first place (5.00 meters), while Owen Anderson came in second (4.71 meters). In the men's mile, Loden Kohrman won the race (4:15.65), while Mac Meredith placed third (4:17.36).
 
At Vanderbilt, Jess Edwards won the women's 800 meters (2:04.63).  
 
Next up, Samford will compete in the Southern Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 27-28 in Lexington, Va.
