SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Three members of the Samford track and field teams earned Southern Conference honors when the league released its weekly track and field awards Wednesday afternoon.
 
Bradley Franklin was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Bryce Davis was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week, while J.T. Shaw earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
 
At the Tom Jones Memorial, hosted by the University of Florida, Franklin set a school record and tied for the fastest time in the world this season in the men's 110-meter hurdles, taking first place with a time of 13.07 seconds.
 
Davis competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational. He had a shot put of 16.44 meters, placing seventh. He also competed in the hammer throw, with a toss of 56.77 meters to come in ninth.
 
Shaw also competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational. She competed in the shot put (13.71m), discus throw (42.86m) and hammer throw (49.99m).
 
Next up, Samford will host the Josh Reidinger Invitational on Friday, April 24, on the Cameron Bean Track and Shauna Yelton Field.
