SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior goalkeeper
Peyton Hull was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's soccer awards Tuesday afternoon.
Hull posted two shutouts to open the 2026 season last week. For the week, Hull played the full 180 minutes without allowing a goal. She totaled 11 saves for the two matches last week.
In the season-opener at No. 2-ranked Notre Dame last Wednesday, the South Bend native saved eight shots in shutting out the highly-ranked Irish in a 0-0 draw. In Samford's home opener against Belmont Sunday evening, she tallied three saves in a 2-0 win over the Bruins.
Samford will play host to Georgia State on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
