GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT SOUTH ALABAMA (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will travel to Mobile, Ala., to take on the South Alabama Jaguars Sunday at 1 p.m.

Samford and South Alabama have met four times, with the series tied at 1-1-2. The teams were supposed to play last season, but the game was canceled due to inclement weather. The last meeting came in 2016, ending in a 0-0 draw.

Samford has an all-time record of 36-11-7 against the current members of the Sun Belt Conference. Samford has played the following SBC teams: App State (6-0-1), Arkansas State (1-0), Coastal Carolina (1-0-1), Georgia Southern (9-1-2), Georgia State (4-5-1), Marshall (1-0), South Alabama (1-1-2), Southern Miss (2-3) and Troy (11-1).

Samford enters Sunday's contest with a record of 2-0-1. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 0-0 draw at No. 2 Notre Dame last Wednesday evening before earning a 2-0 win over Belmont Sunday and a 1-0 win over Georgia State Thursday.
 
In the win over Georgia State, Samford senior forward Sam De Luca netted her first goal of the season to give Samford the win. De Luca scored in the 77th minute off an assist from Langston Lilly. So far this season, De Luca, Martha Bishop and Hayven Laurendine have scored one goal each for the Bulldogs.

Samford head coach Todd Yelton is in his 25th season in charge of the program. He has a career record of 343-154-74, and he is Samford's all-time winningest coach with a mark of 303-122-70 in his time with the Bulldogs.
 
South Alabama has a mark of 1-2 on the young season. The Jaguars are coming off a 4-0 win over Alabama State Thursday evening.

South Alabama has been led by Aliya Gomes with two goals so far this season. Julie Dirom and Andrea Lazar have one goal each. South Alabama has split time in goal between goalkeepers Sierra Giorgio and Mackenzie Smith.
