BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team is set to close non-conference play on Sunday, hosting cross-town rival UAB in the Pete Hanna Center. First serve is set for 4 p.m. CST.
Samford enters Sunday with a 2-7 record. The Bulldogs dropped a pair of matchups at the Alabama Showdown, falling to South Alabama (3-0) on Thursday and Auburn (3-1) on Friday.
Samford has been led so far this season by senior outside hitter Ally Cordes with 124 kills and 112 digs, while junior outside hitter Brianna Hamilton posts a team leading-.277 hitting percentage. Redshirt freshman setter Alison Ohlinger has recorded 347 assists, while freshman middle blocker Hazel Slusher has a team leading-45 blocks.
Samford and UAB will meet for the 35th time. The Blazers lead the overall series 26-8.
