SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford sophomore midfielder Annie McBride was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's soccer awards Tuesday afternoon.

McBride came in off the bench and contributed to both goals in Samford's 2-1 win over Western Carolina on Sunday. The sophomore assisted on the first goal of the contest in the 39th minute, when she found teammate Sam De Luca for a goal. The native of Homewood, Alabama, logged a goal in the 75th minute, which ended up being the game-winning score. McBride's goal was her first of the season.

Samford will play host to Mercer on Friday, Sept. 25. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start from Shauna Yelton Field.
