Samford Soccer Travels To Western Carolina For SoCon Opener

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will open Southern Conference play by playing at Western Carolina Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT) in Cullowhee, N.C. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
Samford and Western Carolina have met 22 previous times, with Samford leading the series, 15-5-2. Last season, the teams played to a 2-2 draw at Shauna Yelton Field. The teams played in the championship games of the 2023 and 2024 SoCon Tournaments, with WCU winning in 2023 and Samford winning in 2024.
Samford has an all-time record of 158-25-26 against the current members of the Southern Conference. In SoCon games only, including against former members, Samford has a mark of 133-17-25.

Samford enters Sunday's contest with a record of 3-2-3. The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-0 loss to UAB on Thursday, Sept. 10 at Shauna Yelton Field.
Martha Bishop leads the team in goals with two. Brinley Murphy, Mary-Ainsley Alack, Sam De Luca, Hayven Laurendine, Alex Parr and Alyssa Tutas have one goal each.
Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull has a 0.51 goals against average, starting all eight games and allowing just four goals while playing 702:10.
Samford head coach Todd Yelton is in his 25th season in charge of the program. He has a career record of 344-156-76, and he is Samford's all-time winningest coach with a mark of 304-124-72 in his time with the Bulldogs.
