GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. AUBURN (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will play host to the Auburn Tigers Sunday at 5 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
The first 100 students to attend the game will receive a free Samford soccer scarf.
Samford and Auburn have met 21 previous times, with Auburn leading the series, 13-3-5. Last season, the teams played to a 0-0 draw in Auburn. Samford's last win in the series came in a 2-0 win in the 2021 NCAA Tournament at Auburn.
Samford enters Sunday's contest with a record of 3-1-2. The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-0 loss at sixth-ranked Alabama Thursday evening.
Martha Bishop leads the team in goals with two. Brinley Murphy, Mary-Ainsley Alack, Sam De Luca, Hayven Laurendine, Alex Parr and Alyssa Tutas have one goal each.
Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull has a 0.34 goals against average, starting all six games and playing 522:10. She has recorded 22 saves so far this season.
Samford was ranked seventh in this week's United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region poll, making Samford the only non-SEC team in the top 10.
Samford head coach Todd Yelton is in his 25th season in charge of the program. He has a career record of 344-155-75, and he is Samford's all-time winningest coach with a mark of 304-123-71 in his time with the Bulldogs.
Auburn carries a mark of 4-0-2 into Sunday's contest. The Tigers earned a 1-0 win at UAB Thursday night.
Auburn has been led so far this season by Dylan Driver with three goals and two assists for eight total points. Ava Caldwell has two goals and three assists for seven points.
Auburn goalkeeper Ayana Yapo has started all six games, posting a 0.18 goals against average in 510 minutes of action.
