Samford Soccer Ranked Ninth In Southeast Region, Remains Lone Non-SEC Team In Top 10

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team was ranked ninth in this week's United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region rankings, making Samford the only non-SEC team in the top 10.
The Bulldogs have a record of 3-1-3, with a tie at then-second-ranked Notre Dame to open the season and another against Auburn. The Bulldogs have wins over Belmont (2-0), Georgia State (1-0) and Jacksonville State (4-1) and a tie with South Alabama (1-1). The lone loss for Samford came at then-sixth-ranked Alabama (1-0).
Vanderbilt, who is ranked second nationally, is No. 1 in the regional rankings. Tennessee is ranked second in the region and eighth nationally. Alabama placed third in the region and 11th in the nation. Texas and South Carolina are both tied for 19th nationally, while Texas is fourth and South Carolina is fifth in the region.
Florida ranks sixth in the region and 23rd in the nation. Following Florida in the regional rankings are Oklahoma (7th), Georgia (8th), Samford (9th) and Auburn (10th).
Samford will next play host to cross-town rival UAB on Thursday, Sept. 10. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start from Shauna Yelton Field.
