Erin Price

  • Title
    Graduate Assistant Coach
Erin Price begins her first year in the collegiate coaching ranks as a graduate assistant with the Samford volleyball program.

From 2000-03, Price starred on the court for the University of Alabama, playing under current Samford head coach Michelle Durban.

A four-year volleyball letterman, Price started every match from her sophomore year forward, including her senior year in which she made the difficult switch from an outside hitter to a setter. The transition was seamless, and during a 2003 season in which she was named team captain, Price became the first player in school history with 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career assists. That season, she led her team in both service aces and assists, following up a successful 2002 season in which she led the team in both blocks solo and block assists.

She was named the Most Improved player at Alabama in 2001 and after the season participated in the U.S. National Team training camp with two of her teammates. During the summer of 2004, she travelled with Athletes in Action on a barnstorming tour through Costa Rica.

Price posted 26 double-doubles during her four-year career. She is ranked in the career top 10 at Alabama in six categories, including a number two ranking in career block assists (321).

Price was also a stand-out track and field athlete, lettering all four years while starring in the high jump. In 2001, she placed sixth in the SEC championships in the high jump competition.

An excellent student as well, Price posted a 3.3 undergraduate grade point average and earned her bachelor's degree in just three years. In 2003 she completed her master's studies in marketing. From 2001-03, Price was Academic All-SEC selection and her senior year, she was named the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year for volleyball.

An Alpharetta, Ga., native, Price currently lives in Birmingham.
