AUBURN, Ala. – Samford men's tennis player Garrison Laduca finished undefeated in both singles and doubles play Friday as the Bulldogs' junior from Woodstock, Ga., continued to advance at the prestigious 2012 USTA-ITA Southern Regional Championships being held at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
 
In singles play, Laduca battled back from a set down to upend Troy's Tadju Davies, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, in the consolation bracket. He later teamed with fellow-junior Elliot Barnwell to cruise past LSU's combination of Harrison Kennedy and Arias Boris, 8-4, in the second round of the doubles championship draw.
 
“We had a lot of challenging matches today,” said Samford head coach Rahim Esmail. “We competed hard and put ourselves in a position to win many of the matches that we played. We have a very talented team and we need to continue to work hard each and every day to achieve our goals."
 
Also in singles play Friday, Samford's Austin Akers, Fares Kilani, Zac Dunkle, Alex Sajonz and Barnwell all dropped hard-fought contests.
 
The tournament is slated to resume Saturday at 9 a.m. (CDT) and will primarily be held at the Yarbrough Tennis Center, with some of the matches being held at the Auburn Intramural Courts.
