SAMFORD DROPS HEARTBREAKER TO EAGLES, REBOUND OVER WILDCATS
The Bulldogs split two home contests last weekend, falling in five sets to the Georgia Southern Eagles Saturday afternoon but pulling through for a four-set win over the Davidson Wildcats on Sunday afternoon. Samford built a 2-0 lead over Georgia Southern, hitting .351 as a team and looking for a key conference sweep. The Eagles had other ideas however, as their defense kept rallies alive and the offense came alive, limiting the Bulldogs to a .106 clip in the remaining sets as Georgia Southern won three in a row to cap a stunning 3-2 comeback win. Samford had a sense of deja vu on Sunday, pulling ahead 2-0 over Davidson before dropping the third set. This time however, the Bulldog offense refused to relent another defeat, dominating the Wildcats 25-12 led by
Katie Murphy with a career-best 21 kills.
NEISLER MOVES TO THIRD ALL-TIME IN CAREER KILLS
Samford senior
Elizabeth Neisler headed into last weekend only 15 kills shy of moving into third all-time in career kills at Samford. The Jacksonville, Ala., native earned 12 on Saturday and 11 on Sunday to bring her career total to 1,249. She is one of only eight Bulldogs in program history to earn over 1,000 kills in their career. She is only 61 kills shy of second place with six matches left in the regular season.
