CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Samford place-kicker Cameron Yaw and punter Greg Peranich have both been named to the College Football Performance Awards preseason watch list for their respective positions.
 
In 2011 as a junior, Yaw made 23-of-28 field goal attempts and 32-of-33 extra-point attempts. He also handled kickoffs for the Bulldogs, averaging 62.7 yards per kick on 64 kickoffs.
 
Yaw led the Southern Conference in field goals made, and he ranked second in the league in field goal percentage and scoring.
 
Peranich punted 47 times, averaging 41.1 yard per kick in 2011. He placed 15 kicks inside the opponents' 20-yard line, and he produced seven punts of over 50 yards. He had a long punt of 57 yards in his sophomore season in 2011.
 
Peranich ranked third in the Southern Conference in both total punting yards and punting average.
 
Yaw and Peranich are the fifth and sixth Samford player to be named to a CFPA Watch List this preseason. Fabian Truss (running backs), Kelsey Pope (wide receivers), Zeke Walters (tight ends) and Alvin Hines II (defensive backs) have also been named to preseason watch lists by the CFPA.
 
The CFPA is releasing its watch lists for each position, with a different position being released each week.
