BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford football team will play host to the West Alabama Tigers Saturday at 6 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.

Samford and West Alabama are meeting for the 17
th time, with Samford holding a 9-6-1 advantage in the series. The teams last met in 2007, with Samford coming away with a 23-21 win. That 2007 meeting marked the first game for
Pat Sullivan as head coach at Samford.
Samford enters the game with a record of 1-0 after a 24-21 win over Furman on Saturday. In the win over the Paladins, quarterback
Andy Summerlin turned in an impressive performance in his Samford debut. Summerlin completed 23-of-37 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns in the win. He also rushed three times for 28 yards and a touchdown.
The game against Furman was tight throughout, though the Bulldogs never trailed in the contest. Senior place-kicker
Cameron Yaw kicked a 27-yard field goal with 37 seconds to go to give Samford the win.
West Alabama is also 1-0 on the young season. The Tigers are coming off an impressive 44-0 win at Clark-Atlanta last weekend. UWA rolled up 455 yards of total offense, while allowing just 78 yards to Clark-Atlanta.
