BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The 22
nd-ranked Samford football team held its final full practice of the week with a workout in shorts and helmets Thursday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.
Samford is preparing for Saturday's Southern Conference game at 12
th-ranked Wofford. Samford head coach
Pat Sullivan said his team worked well during Thursday's practice.
"I thought our guys were extremely focused today," Sullivan said. "Thursday is a day that we try to put the spit and polish on the game plan. I was a little disappointed in yesterday's practice, but I thought today was very good in all phases of it. The kids had their mind on their business, and now we just have to take that to Saturday."
Samford is off to its best start in Southern Conference play since joining the league in 2008. The Bulldogs are 3-0 in league play, and the team has a 5-2 overall mark.
Sullivan said one of the key factors in the team's early-season success has been the closeness of the team.
"I think the unity and the camaraderie and the work ethic of this team has been very good," Sullivan said. "That is something that every team strives for."
Samford will hold a final walk-through at Seibert Stadium before leaving campus for Spartanburg, S.C. Friday morning.
Saturday's game at Wofford is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. (CT) start from Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C. The game can be heard locally on FM-99.5 The Vibe, or worldwide on the internet at
