BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Samford University volleyball team jumps right back into action at home on Wednesday, Oct. 29, to play host to the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga at 6 p.m. inside the Pete Hanna Center. This match is this year's annual "Red Out" match and all fans are encouraged to wear red.
The Bulldogs (15-8, 9-1 SoCon) enter the match coming off of a tough loss to UNCG this past Saturday. The loss snapped an 11-game win streak that Samford had established back at the end of September in the Ole Miss Rebel Classic.
UTC (12-13, 5-5 SoCon) comes into the match after dropping two matches on its home court this past weekend. The Mocs dropped its first match of the weekend to UNCG 3-0 and then to Mercer who took a thrilling match from the Mocs 3-2.
SU and UTC both look to rebound in this midweek match to put themselves back on the right track as the Southern Conference Championships draw even nearer.
Earlier this season the Bulldogs trekked to Chattanooga and took a match from the Mocs 3-1 in its first SoCon contest of the season. SU found success in the middle as junior middle blocker
Emily Meitz paved the way for the Samford victory with 14 kills (.565) and six total blocks and redshirt freshman
T.J. Russell added another 10 kills (.400) to the effort.
Samford holds a 22-9 record in the all-time series matchup against Chattanooga.
The Bulldogs hit the road again this weekend for a single SoCon match against Mercer University on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m.
