BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Samford University volleyball team completes a four-match home stand on Wednesday, Oct. 8, against Southern Conference newcomer Mercer University inside the Pete Hanna Center at 6 p.m. You can watch the Bulldogs in HD, for free, courtesy of Samford Sports TV and the

The Bulldogs (9-7, 3-0 SoCon) are currently riding a five-match win streak heading into the contest against the Bears (4-11, 1-2 SoCon). Samford has historically had success against MU as the program holds a 29-5 all-time record over the team from Macon, Georgia.
SU has won four-straight matches over Mercer and the team's last loss came back on Oct. 14, 2004 when the Bears defeated the Bulldogs 3-0 at home.

Chelsi Carter has one of the heaviest serves in the SoCon and the results have shown it. Carter leads the conference in aces with 31 but also ranks nationally in service aces per set (0.54/10
th) and total service aces (31/9
th).
A trio of Bulldogs has come on strong defensively at the net during the win streak as junior
Emily Meitz, sophomore
Gabbi Greenwald and redshirt freshman
T.J. Russell have combined for 45 total blocks over the five-game stretch; Meitz alone leads the way with 20 total blocks of her own while also contributing 41 kills on just 77 attempts (.442).
Samford's next test will come on the road at UNCG on Friday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. and against Wofford College on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast through the
SoCon Digital Network.
