CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The No. 73-ranked Samford University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to seven-consecutive matches Thursday as the Bulldogs topped the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Conference Tournament being held at the Champions Club.

With its victory, Samford (19-2) advanced to Friday's semifinal round of action where the Bulldogs will square off against the Chattanooga Mocs at 1 p.m. (CDT) for a trip to Saturday's championship contest. Friday's match will mark Samford's second meeting with Chattanooga in six days.

In Saturday's regular-season finale, the Bulldogs battled to a hard-fought 4-3 triumph over the Mocs to finish 2014 with an unblemished 13-0 home record.

Samford has been victorious in 17 of its last 18 matches. Since coming up short against No. 68-ranked Furman on March 29, the Bulldogs have rattled off consecutive wins versus Wofford, Lipscomb, Elon, UNCG, Troy, Chattanooga and Appalachian State (9-16).

Both of Samford's losses this season have come against nationally-ranked opponents.

Against the Mountaineers on Thursday, the Bulldogs breezed to the doubles point with quick victories on courts No. 2 and No. 3.

In the No. 3 matchup, Samford's combination of Stephanie N'tcha and Jessica Northcutt reeled off an 8-0 triumph over the Mountaineers' duo comprised of Megan Mullen and Brianna Armellino. The Bulldogs then clinched its early 1-0 advantage in the match on court No. 2 where Yasmeen Ebada and Carita Moolman tallied an 8-1 victory over Appalachian State's Clare Cox and McKayla Zupan.

Samford's Ebada and Moolman improved to 7-1 in doubles play this season, while N'tcha and Northcutt moved their record on the year to 5-1.

In singles play Thursday, the Bulldogs continued their domination in the match as they posted three immediate straight-set victories on courts No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4.

N'tcha, Samford's 2014 First-Team All-SoCon honoree in both singles and doubles play this season, defeated Cox on court No. 1, 6-3, 6-1, while Ebada cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Gabrielle Wreder in the No. 3 singles contest.

With their respective wins, N'tcha improved to 16-4 in singles play this season, while Ebada earned her eighth-consecutive triumph and moved to 19-1 in 2014.

Samford clinched its lopsided 4-0 victory on court No. 4, as Northcutt defeated the Mountaineers' Armellino, 6-3, 6-3. Northcutt, the Bulldogs' talented sophomore from Duluth, Ga., improved to 16-5 in singles play with the win.

The No. 73-ranked Samford University women's tennis team will next be in action Friday at 1 p.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs square off against the Chattanooga Mocs in the semifinal round of play at the 2014 SoCon Tournament.
