VIDEO PREVIEW OF TCU GAME
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford football team continued working toward Saturday's season opener at TCU by practicing for an hour and a half in shorts and helmets Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.
Samford Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator
Bill D'Ottavio talked about what he would like to see from the team Saturday evening.
"Our number one expectation is always to play hard and compete in everything we do," D'Ottavio said. "So, we start with that and we try to play our very best in each and every football game. We know that the season is a little bit of a process and you hope to be better in the last game than you are the first game. We want to go out and be crisp with our execution, play good football and do the things we've been taught to do."
Saturday's game will mark the Samford debut of starting quarterback
Michael Eubank. D'Ottavio said he has been impressed with what he has seen from the Arizona State transfer.
"With every rep he takes, he gets a little bit better," D'Ottavio said. "As he's progressed, going through spring and then fall camp, getting a lot of reps, obviously he's getting more and more comfortable with our offense and it's exciting to see."
D'Ottavio said the team is looking forward to kicking off the season this weekend.
"You want to see where your team really is," D'Ottavio said. "They get sick of banging on one another at the end of camp. So, now you get to play somebody else and find out where you are."
The Bulldogs will open the 2014 season on Saturday, Aug. 30, when they play at TCU. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start, and the game will be televised live on Fox Sports Net.
