BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Samford University volleyball team wraps up tournament action this weekend at the Ole Miss Rebel Classic hosted by the University of Mississippi on Sept. 19-20. The Bulldogs will face Lamar University (0-9) Friday at 11 a.m. before taking on host Ole Miss that evening at 5:30 p.m. on the SEC Network +. SU will wrap up play against SWAC opponent Jackson State (0-11) at 10 a.m. Saturday.
SU (3-6) enters play after coming off a tough weekend last week at the Florida State Seminole Classic where the team went 0-3 against three quality opponents in the University of Central Arkansas, Florida State and LSU.
Sophomore
Erin Bognar highlighted Samford's efforts as she earned a spot on the Seminole Classic All-Tournament team. Bognar recorded a career-high 18 kills against LSU in a 3-1 loss on Saturday, Sept. 13, to close out the tournament.
Senior
Michaela Reesor continues her chase for the Samford all-time career kill record. The Caledon, Ontario, Canada native has posted 125 kills on the season and a total of a 1,319 in her career. She only needs 298 more to capture the record currently held by Melissa Karwowski with a 1,617 kills.
The Bulldogs sport 9-3 record against the tournament field this weekend which includes an undefeated 7-0 record against Jackson State, a 1-1 record against Lamar and a 1-2 record against SEC foe Ole Miss.
Samford begins Southern Conference play on Sept. 26, when the team travels to Chattanooga, Tennessee to take on the University of Chattanooga Mocs in its' SoCon opener at 5 p.m.
