MACON, Ga. -- The Samford University women's tennis team remained perfect in Southern Conference play this season Wednesday as the Bulldogs rolled to a dominant 6-1 road victory against the Mercer Bears in a key early-league contest held at the Leroy Peddy Tennis Center.

With the win, Samford (9-7, 3-0 SoCon) extended its season-long winning streak to four-consecutive matches and tallied its first true road victory of the 2015 campaign. The Bulldogs boast a stellar 7-2 home record this season, but are just 1-4 when playing on the road.

Mercer (4-14, 0-4 SoCon) suffered its eighth-consecutive loss Wednesday and fell to 2-4 when playing at home this season. Since winning at Florida A&M on Feb. 28, 4-3, the Bears have dropped consecutive dual matches against Florida Atlantic, Western Carolina, Louisiana-Monroe, Troy, Wofford, Lamar, East Tennessee State and Samford.

The Bulldogs breezed to an early 1-0 lead in Wednesday's match by cruising to the doubles point.

On court No. 1, Samford's 65th-ranked doubles combination of Stephanie N'tcha and Carita Moolman topped Mercer's Grace Korta and Roxy Bartz, 8-2, while the Bulldogs' No. 2 tandem of Yasmeen Ebada and Jessica Northcutt cruised to a similar 8-2 decision.

In the No. 3 doubles competition, Samford's pairing of Savannah Wood and AnnMarie Lyon registered a decisive 8-4 decision against the Bears' tandem of Laura Kelly and Liza Klyachkin.

Already this season, the Bulldogs' N'tcha and Moolman boast an 11-3 record on court No. 1, while Ebada and Northcutt own a solid 10-3 mark at No. 2.

Samford breezed to five, straight-set singles victories against Mercer on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' N'tcha, Ebada, Moolman, Iva Parapunova and Wood were all triumphant against their Bear counterparts as Samford tallied its 6-1 team win.

With their victories, the Bulldogs' Moolman and N'tcha both reached the 10-win plateau in singles play this season. Moolman holds a 10-3 dual-match record in 2015, while N'tcha boasts a 10-5 mark on court No. 1.

Additionally, Samford's Wood extended her winning streak to four-consecutive matches with a lopsided 6-2, 6-1 victory over Kelly on court No. 6.

The Samford University women's tennis team will next be in action Saturday at 10 a.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs return home to Birmingham, Alabama, to square off against the ETSU Buccaneers in a pivotal early-league contest to be held at the Samford Tennis Center.
