BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford University soccer team will begin play in its 2015 regular-season schedule Friday at 7 p.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs open a four-match homestand against the Boise State Broncos in a huge non-conference contest to be held at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.

Friday will also be $1 Hot Dog Night at the soccer stadium and admission is FREE.

Following Friday's meeting with Boise State, Samford (0-0) will also play host to South Alabama (Sunday), Memphis (Aug. 28) and Wake Forest (Aug. 30) on its current home stretch, before traveling to face Auburn at 7 p.m., on Sept. 4.

The Bulldogs head into the 2015 campaign with high expectations after being picked to repeat as the Southern Conference regular-season champions. Last season, Samford tallied a 14-8 overall record and registered a 7-2 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs return eight starters from last year's team and juniors Anna Allen and Jermaine Seoposenwe were both named to the Preseason All-SoCon Team.

In exhibition play, Samford lost a hard-fought match at Baylor, 1-0, while cruising to a 3-0 victory against Arkansas-Little Rock. The Bulldogs' Malcanisha Kelley scored a pair of goals versus UALR, while Seoposenwe also tallied a score in the team's lopsided 3-0 triumph.

Boise State (0-0) was recently preseason picked to finish sixth in the Mountain West Conference after concluding last year with a 9-9-3 overall record and a 6-5 league mark. The Broncos return nine starters from last season's squad.

Samford and Boise State will meet on the pitch for the first time Friday. The match will also mark the Bulldogs' initial meeting with a member of the MWC.

Boise State is a public research institution located in Boise, Idaho and boasts an enrollment of 23,000 students. It was founded in 1932 by the Episcopal Church.

Head Coach Todd Yelton, the 2014 SoCon Coach of the Year, is Samford's all-time winningest coach with 162 victories as a Bulldog. He also owns an impressive career record of 202-104-36. Yelton will begin his 18th season as a head coach Friday, including his 14th at Samford.

Yelton's talented coaching staff is comprised of Jay Yelton and Alyssa Whitehead.

Samford's roster this season is composed of three seniors, seven juniors, five sophomores and 10 true freshmen.

Following Friday's season-opening contest against Boise State, the Samford University soccer team will next be in action Sunday at 6 p.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs welcome the South Alabama Jaguars to the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium for a key in-state matchup between reigning conference champions.
