BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University volleyball team will take a quick trip north up I-65 to face Ohio Valley Conference opponent Tennessee State University on Saturday, Sept. 4^th, at noon (CT) inside Kean Hall.

The Bulldogs (1-2) are coming off of a hard fought weekend at the War Eagle Invitational where they lost the opener 3-1 to reigning A-Sun Champions Jacksonville University, then defeated Southland Conference Tournament Champions Stephen F. Austin 3-0 and wrapped up the invitational with a 3-1 defeat to the host Auburn University.

Samford looks to rebound with a solid performance against the Tigers from Nashville, Tennessee. Look for solid play from sophomore libero and Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week Morgan St. Germain on Saturday. St. Germain recorded a total of 52 digs (4.73 d/s) this past weekend with a 20 dig performance in the final match against Auburn.

Several other newcomers made impacts in the opening weekend of play such as freshman setter Taylor Anderton. Anderton recorded back-to-back double-doubles against Jacksonville, 34 assists and 11 digs, then against Stephen F. Austin, 39 assists and 11 digs.

Tennessee State opened their season 0-3 in Oxford, Mississippi at the Magnolia Invitational. The Tigers faced the likes of Northwestern State (L, 3-1), Ole Miss (L, 3-1) and Oral Roberts (L, 3-0). Junior Chloe Watson received a spot on the Magnolia Invitational All-Tournament Team after her performances during the weekend. Watson tallied a double-double, 14 kills and 11 digs, against the Rebels.
